Eating Disorder & Body Image Therapy in New York

Therapy for Eating Disorders, Body Image & Anxiety: For Women Who Look Fine But Don't Feel It

Serving clients from NYC to Long Island and the Hamptons — online and in person

The Collective

Therapy by Francesca Emma, LMHC

A modern eating disorder and body image therapy practice for women navigating anxiety, self-criticism, and disordered eating (quietly and often alone.)

This work is built on the belief that what we often try to fix on the surface-our eating habits, bodies, or need for control-is rarely the real issue. These struggles are often connected to:

disordered eating and body image concerns

eating disorder recovery

anxiety and perfectionism

At its core, The Collective focuses on understanding the patterns and inner dialogue driving these experiences. Through therapy and honest, real-life conversations, we help women move from self-criticism and rigidity to awareness, flexibility, and self-trust.

This approach goes beyond symptoms, meeting you where you are, not where you think you should be because it was never just about the food, the body, or anxiety to begin with.

For women who look fine, but don’t feel it.

Founder of The Collective: Therapy by Francesca Emma, a modern group practice for women who appear to have it all together, but feel like they’re quietly struggling underneath.

Since 2010, I’ve worked with women navigating anxiety, disordered eating, and body image concerns, helping them move out of overthinking and into a life that feels more grounded, flexible, and fully their own. As a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend, I understand the pressure to hold it all together even when it doesn’t feel that way.

After years of working with women who had tried therapy before but felt like it only scratched the surface, I expanded into group practice. My work goes beyond managing symptoms and instead focuses on the patterns beneath your relationship with food, your body, and yourself. I’m deeply invested in mentoring and supervising clinicians within The Collective, ensuring this approach is carried out with consistency, depth, and real-life relatability.

I work with women, young adults, and professionals who are ready to step out of self-criticism, heal their relationship with food and their bodies, and navigate anxiety and life transitions with more clarity and confidence. Therapy here is never one-size-fits-all-t’s a personalized, thoughtful space to understand what’s been keeping you stuck and begin to shift it.

If you’re ready to move away from pressure and into self-trust and flexibility, this is where that work begins.

  1. Free Consultation

I offer a free initial phone consultation to ensure we’re a good fit. This is a chance for us to briefly discuss your concerns, goals, and any questions you have about therapy.

  2. The First Session

Your first session is about getting to know you—your background, current challenges, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. It’s a collaborative, judgment-free space where we can start mapping out a plan tailored to your needs.

  3. Ongoing Sessions & Approach

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I use a personalized approach, incorporating relational and psychodynamic therapy to help you explore the deeper patterns and experiences that shape your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. We’ll also integrate practical strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when needed to help you manage symptoms and navigate challenges with more ease. Together, we’ll work on tangible strategies to help you navigate life’s stressors with more clarity and confidence.
